shuttles are made from hardwoods. we use what wood we have on stock at the moment. either apple, oak, ash, plum, or chestnut. These are made by an old man, Gunars, I met selling scythes. Since his wife was a weaver he has also specialized in some weaving tools. Gunars says he is almost ninety. When I visited his house I said where is your workshop. He replyed, you're in it! He makes these all by hand in his home. He has beautiful hands and a full head of thick dove white hair.
