Last winter, I wove almost 100 samples of basic plain weave patterns for bands. The Plan — my first book! I’ve been asked so many times for a resource like this, and there really aren’t many out there. Susan Foulkes has one, and it may have been her first weaving book too.
This book will cover all the basics of band weaving, but its main focus is helping you understand and create simple patterns. It includes lots of examples of bands along with pattern drafts. I love simple patterns because they’re so playful — just by changing colours and combining contrasting yarns in the heddle, you can create endless variations.
As spring arrived and now summer is here, I haven’t quite finished the full book yet, but I did manage to put together a digital version with 16 examples. It will help you start understanding pattern drafts and give you plenty of samples to weave from.
It is on the shop under Digital Goods.
Happy weaving!
