No matter what the age, many people are mystified by weaving. They may have been exposed or done some knitting or crocheting. But weaving they often think it is something too complicated to learn and a lot of equipment is needed. We have volunteers come to our home from all over the world to learn about rural living, animals rearing, organic gardening etc. Many of them see the weaving tools and want to learn. 100% of the time they get so excited and say ''I didn't think it would be so easy and fun'' .
Even if you are just a beginner weaver, you can teach. Just have a small heddle (or more) around and if someone is interested, their new weaving hobby is up in motion in minutes. I always start people on the smallest heddle we have, 15 strings. A warp of about a yard (or meter) and it is plenty to begin to get the hang of it.

I have them warp their first project too. If I make a workshop with more people I will pre warp the heddles so we can dive right into the weaving. In the picture above you will see they are using our plastic heddles. I prefer wooden ones however plastic (it is from recycled plastic) heddles are great if you make workshops. They can we used over and over and wiped clean if needed.
''Students'' can also make their shuttle if you need to cut cost down. Just find some dissent cardboard for the job and a basic shuttle shape.
If anyone wants to start teaching but not sure how, write us and we will be happy to help.
